Welcome to Wednesbury History Society!

We are a comparatively new group in Sandwell who are currently in the process of developing our new website – which is just one of the very exciting plans we have in the pipeline for the next twelve months and are currently seeking funding for.

These plans should ensure that 2008 will be an exciting year for the promotion of the history and heritage of Wednesbury!

Please do re-visit our website over the coming months as we will be regularly updating it with new information as projects are launched and existing ones developed and updated.

In the meantime please have a look at our Project’s page (including our Folk and Roots page here) to get a flavour of some of the work we have undertaken to date.

We hold regular meetings on the first Tuesday of every month at St James Church, St James Street, Wednesbury (see multi-map for location). To find out more about these meetings please email us through our contacts page.

For any form of other contact please go through Wednesbury Museum & Art Gallery.

We are keen to encourage new people to join us and become active participants within our group. Whether you live locally or over the other side of the world, through modern communications technology we will ensure you are able to make an active contribution to the group should you so wish.

So, if you have a passion for the local history of Wednesbury and would like to get involved with a range of potential activites from online research, to getting your hands dirty out in the field, or helping prepare exhibition materials- then please do get in touch with us NOW!

You can find out more about how our group is run by having a look through our constitution.
