Been doing a load of research boys and having weighed things up I am confident of bringing the trip in a minimum of £100 cheaper p/p than my usual company can offer. Though it entails more time and effort on my part, given we have an estimated 16 potential attendees, I think the saving is worth pursuing so have already got the ball rolling as I will expand on below. FYI, using the company would cost in the region of £750 p/p and does not include buggies. By making the bookings direct my estimates are outlined below. The critical one is the flight cost as this increases over time when demand outweighs supply so the sooner we book the flights, the better the rate secured. FYI, the flight estimate is based on travel from Luton so if you have advised me that you are unable to travel from Luton then please be aware that the costs will be a minimum of around £60-£70 more p/p.
Here are my estimates by going directly to the hotel & courses:
4 Nights 4* Hotel (A/I) = £160
3 Rounds of Golf (inc. Buggies) est. £180
Est. Flight costs = £200 (if we book asap we can get a better deal)
Airport & golf xfers est. £50
Prize kitty = £30
Tour shirt = £20
Est. Total = £640
I have already booked the hotel – there is no risk attached so I have locked in a good rate – for an all-inclusive stay from Wed 14th Oct to Sun 18th Oct; free cancellation and nothing to pre-pay as we pay reception on arrival. At £40 per day I reckon we can fill our boots ok for that. I have a reputable company that can place all of the golf bookings that works out significantly cheaper than booking direct with the courses themselves. The stumbling block is the golf has to be paid in advance to secure the tee-times as they will not hold tee-times without prior payment.
As you all know we have reduced the standing balance in the Society so there is more emphasis on you guys to comply with the proposed Payment Schedule should you confirm your attendance. I have spoken with both Steve and Kevin and what we have agreed is the timetable of payments as laid out below.
14th Feb 2020 - £200 non-refundable deposit to be paid.
1st Mar 2020 - £60 golf fees (Course 1)
1st Apr 2020 - £60 golf fees (Course 2)
1st May 2020 - £60 golf fees (Course 3)
The above would cover the bulk of the ‘upfront’ charges with the remainder not as critical due to the nature. For example, xfers would be billed in August once I have courses and known numbers confirmed to obtain meaningful quotes; shirts and prize kitty could be billed prior to the Pre-Meeting. So it’s over to you guys now – the hard bit is done. All we need from you is to log-in, register either way, and if going support your attendance with the requested payments. If it’s easier for you to set up a Standing Order, that’s fine, just let Steve or Kev know so that they can match any payments in to the account to your respective accounts. The sooner attendees are confirmed and the flights booked, the more chance I have of bringing the price down even further.
Please note, I am looking to book 3 different courses to what we have played before: options currently being looked at are Santa Clara, Lauro and Cobapino golf courses – all with buggies included.
